Sunset in color

Shot a random roll of expired Kodak Gold 200 in a point-and-shoot – Samsung Maxima Zoom 90i, which was also sold as the Rollei Prego 90. I like the performance, but the camera is a bit too chunky to be a handy carry-around.

Still, I like the rich color of the sunset light captured in these images.

I bought a 645 back for my Hasselblad 500 CM a while back, but I finally tried it out this summer taking it along on a beach vacation on Long Beach Island in New Jersey. I was shooting Kodak Gold 200, and from the results, I think I would have liked it better underexposed a half stop or maybe even a full stop. Still, the colors pop.

The only lens I have for the camera is the Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f2.8, a lovely lens. Having just that one lens vastly simplifies matters, and that simplicity seems to match the way I like to shoot medium format cameras.

I wish the outfit was lighter and a bit more compact. The bulk and weight keeps me from taking the outfit on trips unless I’m driving. I’m still searching for that perfect 120 camera for when I have to fly.

Still trying to get the hang of the Mamiya RB67

I bought a Mamiya RB67 earlier this year, something I definitely did not need as I already owner several medium format cameras, mostly 6×6, but also a 6×9. Still, I was curious about the buzz and it came bundled with a Mamiya C3 and C330, so why not?

The first few rolls produced decidedly mixed results, entirely on me.

The camera his a beast to haul around and I still fumble with it every time I take it out. I like the 6×7 format and it shows promise, but I’m undecided about if I’ll keep it, mainly because I’m unsure how often I would take it out.

The 6×7 I lust after is the Fuji GF670, something I could travel with, though I’ve never even seen one in real life let alone held one.

Shooting expired color film

Posted in 35mm, Color film, film, Nikon, photography, SLR, Vermont with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 23, 2022 by msogavt

I keep finding these rolls of expired film from I don’t know when. The first image was shot on Fujifilm Experia Extra 400 at 400, the second at 200. The last two images were shot on Kodak Gold 200 at 100. The colors are all a bit funky, but I like the look. All the images were shot on a Nikon F2AS with a Nikkor 50mm f1.2, pre-AI that had been converted to AI. Big chunky glass but I love the way it handles.
