Sunset in color

Shot a random roll of expired Kodak Gold 200 in a point-and-shoot – Samsung Maxima Zoom 90i, which was also sold as the Rollei Prego 90. I like the performance, but the camera is a bit too chunky to be a handy carry-around.

Still, I like the rich color of the sunset light captured in these images.

Reflx Lab Color 400

I bought a couple of rolls because they were cheap – plus only $5 shipping. I don’t shoot color much, but I took a trip to Colorado in September for a wedding and took along my auto-everything Olympus Stylus Epic as a second camera that took up no space. I like the was this film renders color, especially how the blues are saturated.

A little halation to go with that Tungsten-balanced film

I had a roll of Reflx Lab 800 Tungsten but for some reason I shot most of it in daylight. I did manage to make a few images at night to catch some of that famous halation. Overall, I happy with this film, though I’m not sure I’ll be buying any more anytime soon (I do have another roll in the fridge). While the last several posts have been in color, I generally prefer black and white.

Field days

Some daylight images made with Reflx Lab 800 Tungsten film. Even with a warming filter, balancing the color was bit of a trick. I wonder if having so much green in the image had something to do with that.

A little state park that was off my radar

We had planned an outing to one of our regular state parks when we found out that we couldn’t take our dog along. A searched turned up Holbrook State Park in Sheffield, which had no restrictions.

I had never heard of this park and it turns out it’s unstaffed, which might account for its lack of restrictions. Holbrook turned out to be a pleasant surprise with good hiking (though quite muddy following the wet summer) around a series of ponds and up which led to sweeping views from surrounding cliffs as a reward.

The Cheap Art Store

The Cheap Art Store bus sits across from Bread and Puppet Theatre’s museum in Glover. There you’ll find, as the name implies, cheap art.

Fun at the fair

A bit of a cliche to take your film camera to the county fair, but this is Vermont and the county fair – in this case, the Addison County Fair and Field Days – is a thing. As is the tractor pull with machines designed to belch extra black smoke.

That warm light, captured so well

Still on the Silversalz 250D kick. The film stock seems to do wonders with the warm glow of sunlight filtered through a canopy or a single leaf.
